Dear friends and supporters,
Thank you for being our co-workers by means of prayer and giving.
Our China Report #1
Our trip to the great urban centers of China started with an email from a pastor in rural, northern Iowa. He desired information concerning our potential trip to China.
Although in our prayer letters we had mentioned the possibility of such a trip, we had not settled on a traveling date. I replied to the pastor, saying thank you for offering to help us financially, but we were not sure when such a trip would occur, and that it would be better to wait on an offering. That night, I (Bill) was not able to sleep. I tossed and turned restlessly thinking about our ministry to our many Chinese friends, about a trip to China, and about a pastor’s desire to send us there. The next morning, early, I called the pastor, telling him that if his church family was willing to take an offering to help us travel to China, we were excited to accept it, as from the Lord.
This was the first of many financial gifts given to make our recent trip possible, and your generous giving was God’s confirmation of His will for us.
Acts 13:1-3 records the sending of Christian missionaries. In that account, there are three agents involved in the calling and sending of missionaries: the Holy Spirit, the missionaries, and the church. The Holy Spirit moves the church to send divinely appointed missionaries. This is what happened in our case. By means of giving and notes of encouragement, our supporters made it very clear that it was certainly God’s will for us to go, minister, and learn in China.
Over the next several weeks, Deb and I will write about the transformational lessons learned from our latest adventure—there are many.
Because we were still recuperating from our trip last week, we did not provide you with pictures as we intended to do. However in the weeks to come, we hope to provide a few pictures of our journey.

We love you,
