Dear friends and supporters,
Thank you for being our co-workers by means of prayer and giving.
This week I (Bill) am in Ankeny, Iowa attending organizational meetings with Baptist Mid-Missions. Deb is in Chicago preparing for our daughter’s (Linda) wedding. I am in the middle of a meeting listening to Dave Ferguson teach on crisis management. My time is limited but I want to share a recent happening.
Last Sunday evening I was traveling to our local rock climbing wall when an opportunity arose which allowed me to speak with a young lady about Christianity. We were waiting for a shuttle van to transport us to our event when I asked her, “What should a pastor know about your life?” She (a Chinese graduate student) replied, “You should know that my great grandfather was a pastor like you.” She went on to explain that her grandfather disappeared in the cultural revolution and her family never discovered what happened to him. She confided that her father has a Bible and had taken her to church one time. Finally, she said, “When I attend church in your home it makes me feel a connection to my grandfather.” I wondered aloud, “Perhaps your great grandfather prayed for his future grandchildren.” She replied, “That thought makes tears come to my eyes.” I then had the opportunity to begin to share Christ with her, a process that will probably take about 18 months. Please pray for us as we have many opportunities like this.
August is a difficult month in our church fellowship. Students are home for the summer, folks are traveling, and Deb and I have several obligations outside of Boston. Continuity of ministry is a problem. Please pray for wisdom to keep ministry moving forward even in August.

We love you,
Bill and Deb
