Dear friends and supporters,

Thank you for being our co-workers by means of prayer and giving. A couple of weeks ago, we had the privilege of baptizing three new believers. This is the third of the three testimonies of our new members.

Testimony of Jianchen Thank God for this chance to share my experience in Christ. Like other Chinese students, I grew up in a traditional family, where no one believes in Jesus. The first time I had a chance to get to know God was in college, I was in a chorus whose leader was a Christian, and taught us the songs about the Holy Spirit. That was one of my happiest times during college. Full of love and peace, I still never knew that was about the power of God. Four years ago, I came to the US, studied in a small village in Pennsylvania. I was living with a Christian host family, and church was one of the weekly family activities. Sometimes I forgot to get up early on Sunday, sometimes I fell asleep during worship, even once I felt angry and confused for what the pastor said and tried to argue with him. I never knew I could believe in God one day though I attended many church family activities with my host family.

But God showed me He is real, though I ignored Him, He showed me He is there, for everyone, all the time. He gave people power when they read Bible, He reminded me of the beauty of nature when I was struggling with some difficulties, He answered me when I prayed. I just could not deny Jesus Christ any more, as He is the only true existing God in the world, and sacrificed Himself to save all human beings from their sin.

During the first year I came to Boston, I met a woman on campus, who looked like a professor, to give students instructions. When I met her for the second time, I heard a voice in my mind, saying: talk to her. I don’t like talk to strangers but I tried, and what came out from my mouth was: are you a person of religion? Amazing thing is, she was! And she was attempting to bring some students to church at that time.

I just returned to Sunday worship as I did in college, but did not fall asleep any more. God touched my heart strongly; I felt I want to know more and more about Him.

One day, I didn’t bring enough change for the vending machine, and here comes Ronnie (a member of our church), who bought me some water. I asked him if there is a good church to go to, which brought me here (IBC). I believe God just arranged this beautiful meeting to happen again, to bring me to church. I just realized, God is there throughout my life, though I never noticed it before.

1 John 1:8-9 If we say that we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

As Christians, we are not perfect. We make stupid decisions all the time. The One big thing that changed my life is that Jesus sacrificed Himself to remove all guilty from my shoulders, which happens for all Christians, and happened to me too. He allowed me to stop thinking about what I did wrong, but instead, seek to do things for Jesus Christ in the future. He is the leader of the world, gives me support, and provides answers to questions when people ask.

Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved—you and your household.” Act 16:31

Here I am, I believe in Jesus Christ, I confessed to him, and I have been made his child ever since.

Please Pray I (Bill) have stepped away from my weekly routine in order to do some much needed personal reflection, stewardship identification, and future planning. Please pray for me as this is an important time.
